FREE IMPROVISATION SERIES & QUARTET SERIES
This suite of works in oil is inspired by a technique or genre in music, in particular, jazz and modern classical.
Free improvisation is considered a style of its own, i.e. a free, loose and individualistic way of playing or composing music. Although jazz has always embraced experimentation, further nuanced classifications exist for these musicians, such as minimalist, electronic and experimental music.
The abstract, expressive and non-restrictive nature of this music is a perfect stimulus for a painter.

Free Improvisation: Inspired by a technique in jazz music, now considered a genre of its own - a free, loose, individualistic way of playing or composing jazz.
Straight/ square: A more accurate or "legitimate" manner of playing which sticks close to the original music; a notably "square" way of playing.
